There was a real buzz in the air as the academic year commenced at GYC on Wednesday 7 February. Students gathered at both campuses looking splendid in their full formal uniform. The incoming Year 11 students had the benefit of attending our Head Start program late last year so the transition to college wasn't as scary as it could have been.

Students were greeted by friendly staff members and were assisted by the 2024 Student Leaders. A very exciting and diverse program is panned for our students this year as they full engage in their learning and also participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

To order school photos Parents, Carers and Students should visit the MSP Photography website. You will need to know your “shoot key” which was provided to individual students in their Tutor Class on the first day back.

If you are missing the “shoot key” please contact the Administration Office and they will be able to assist you.

Students are reminded that if you would like to request a course change, please check the Daily News for the allocated times. It is important that you only come at these times as we will not be available at other times.

• Please do not email course change requests

• Requests will only be approved if they align with your study / career pathways. We will not be approving changes to be with friends, to change teachers, or to switch lines.

• Requests need to be signed by a Parent/Carer.

• Changes are only finalised when your timetable has been updated.

• Course changes need to be made by the end of Week 3 (unless there is an extenuating circumstance).

• Please note, many classes are full so changes cannot be guaranteed. If a course you wish to move into is full, we can place you on a waitlist.

• Please carefully consider your request to change courses. We won’t be approving repeated requests to change courses unless there are extenuating circumstances.

JAPAN TRIP! 2025

We're pleased to announce that in September 2025 students will have the opportunity to head off to Japan. The trip will enable students to have an authentic in-country experience of Japanese history, culture, beautiful natural scenery and cuisine.

The nine day tour will take in the iconic sites of Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Miyajima and Hiroshima – travelling by bus and high speed bullet train.

Any student studying Dance, Drama, Music, Media or Visual Art in 2024 is invited to join us on our Arts excursion to Melbourne, where we’ll spend a few days visiting some of Australia’s best galleries, theatres and concert venues as immerse ourselves in this culturally-rich city.

We anticipate the excursion will cost approximately $850 per student for an all inclusive, three days/two nights in June. At this stage we are calling for expressions of interest.
